In this case study, we look at a customer’s issues with controlling their street light operations and how GIC’s advanced PLC, SMPS, and IoT Modem solution provided a smooth and dependable solution.

The customer faced multiple challenges in their existing setup for controlling the street light operations. Firstly, the occurrence of frequent surges and spikes in the electrical system affected the performance and longevity of the lights. Secondly, the communication issues between the PLC and IoT components hindered the seamless operation of the street light control system. These challenges resulted in unreliable operation, increased maintenance efforts, and decreased overall efficiency of the street lighting infrastructure.

GIC provided a comprehensive solution to address the customer’s challenges by introducing the PL-100 PLC, SMPS, and IoT Modem. With this advanced setup, individuals can efficiently monitor and control the street lights, while also accessing valuable historical data from the energy meter. The integration of the modem ID for all devices enables centralized control through the PLC, ensuring seamless operation and effective management of up to 50 lights across 25 poles. This solution empowers the customer with enhanced energy monitoring, efficient light operation cycles, and improved overall performance of the street lighting system.
